Speakathon club under the mentorship of Training and Placement Cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology has initiated a new programme 'Aazadi Amrit Mahotsav series' to commemorate the 75 years of Indian Independence by remembering the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for giving us Free India. This series was inaugurated by Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor as chief guest. Prof Deepa Mangla, Dean Student Welfare was present as guest of honour.
Prof, Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted that students should know how India got independence and how we can become free from corona pandemic. People should come together and fight against corona pandemic. The country should also get freedom from corona and that's possible only when every citizen of India will put efforts along with government.
Prof. Deepa Mangla told us the real definition of 'Independence'. The independence is not the thing that allows us to speak anonymously anything, but to raise our voice when darkness is all around.
Pratap Singh Malik, Director Placement told that under this programme, on every wednesday, students will be speaking on one freedom fighter, whose birth or death anniversary lies in that month. He told that this programme has been designed to sharpen the communication skills of our students and to let our students know about various legends of Indian freedom movement and learn from their lives. This programme will also bring the students from the currently ongoing negative environment of pandemic to positivity.
Freedom Fighter of the inaugural event was 'Rani Laxmi Bai'. Thirty students of various courses came forward to speak. Students told that Rani Laxmi Bai was a great Indian freedom fighter who fought even by her last breathe. After death of her husband, she had refused to knee down in front of the Britishers with the words, "Main apni Jhansi nhi dungi" which became a famous quote later. On her last battle with colonials, "if defeated and killed on the field of battle, we shall surely earn enternal glory and salvation", she uttered.
Dr. Ranjeet, Training Placement Coordinator of Department of Physics and Program coordinator expressed vote of thanks. Arzoo anchored the programme. The volunteers, Aalok, Unnati, Rakhi, Meghna, Sanju, Pranjali, Inderjeet, Anjali along with Apurva, the club coordinator worked hard for the programme.
