Speakathon Club's workshop on topic "AAZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV SERIES (Ram Prasad Bismil)"
The Speakathon club under the mentorship of Training and Placement cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar organised the sixth edition of ‘Azadi Amritmahotsav Series’ in form of “Online Elocution Event” to commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence. This week’s freedom fighter was ‘Ram Prasad Bismil’ as his birth anniversary falls on 11th June. About 32 students of GJUST as well as other affiliated colleges participated in this event. Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Associate Professor in Haryana School of Business and NCC Coordinator was the guest of honour. Assistant Director Training & Placements Dr. Aditya Vir Singh presided over the function.
Students spoke very enthusiastically and confidently on the life, struggles and sacrifices made by Shri Ramprasad Bismil for India’s independence. They said that he was among the most noteworthy Indian freedom fighters who resisted British colonial forces till his last breath. Bismil became a member of the Hindustan Republican Association at a very young age, it was only through this revolutionary organisation. He also criticized the caste and gender-based exploitation which was justified in the name of upholding tradition and the practice of ‘honour’ killing prevalent in the conservative feudal society of Bundelkhand. He believed that freedom cannot be achieved without violence, bloodshed, which meant his views were in stark contrast to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of ‘ahimsa’. Ram Prasad Bismil also participated in Mainpuri & Kakori Conspiracy of 1918 & 1925 respectively. He had the life-long bond with Ashfaqullah Khan. Bismil and Ashfaqullah together played key roles in the famous Kakori train robbery of 1925.
At the end, guest of honour Dr. Rajiv Kumar delivered expression of thanks. He told to students that a person is not known by his background status but by his achievements, skills and the most important thing, by his sacraments. He also praised the students for participating confidently and advised them to always follow the path of truth and honesty.
While representing vote of thanks, Program coordinator Dr. Ranjeet Dalal Assistant Professor Department of Physics underlined that Ramprasad Bismil joined the Arya Samaj founded by Dayananda Saraswati in 1875 and this had a profound influence on him, he often employed poetry as his weapon of choice in the fight against the imperialist forces.
Sh. Pratap Singh Malik, Director (Placements) told that Tejas Sangwan of DN college, Hisar has been declared as the best speaker of the event.
