Ninth Edition of Azadi Amrit Mahotsav Series held on Swami Vivekanand

The Speakathon club under the mentorship of Training and Placement cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar organised the ninth edition of ‘Azadi Amritmahotsav Series’ in form of “Online Elocution Event” to commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence. This week’s famous personality was ‘Swami Vivekananda ji’ as his death anniversary falls on 4th July 2021. Prof Karampal Narwal, Director of HSB was the guest of honour for the event. Mr.Pratap Singh Malik, Director of Training and Placement cell presided over the function. Twenty students from various departments
participated in the event.
In his welcome speech, Director(Placement) Pratap Singh told that life of Swami Vivekanand inspired almost all the freedom fighters at that time including Mahatma Gandhi, Neta Ji Subhash Chandra, Ravindernath Tagore and many more.
Students spoke very enthusiastically about the life, struggles,sacrifices and contributions of ‘Swami Vivekananda’. They told that he was a Hindu spiritual leader and reformer in India who attempted to combine Indian spirituality with Western material progress. The students underlined that historical speech of Swami Ji in Chicago in 1893 with starting words of "Sisters and Brother of America" proved to be historical turning point in glory of India and her values. This feeling of pride in India and its ancient culture motivated to Indian youth to take part in Indian freedom movement. The students cited incidents of Swami Vivekanand related to his focussed concentration, love for all human beings irrespective of case and creed, strong character and utmost nationalism. The students told that appeal of Swami Vivekananad of adoring Mother India as one deity is still relevant for all. The students also highlighted how his guru Ram Krsihan Paramhansa converted him from narender nath to Vivekananda.
At the end, guest of honour, Director(HSB), Prof Karampal Narwal addressed the students. He said that according to Swami Vivekanand, each soul is potentially divine and the goal of true education is to manifest this Divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal. It can be done either by work, or worship, or mental discipline, or philosophy—by one, or more, or all of these.
Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Assistant Professor(Physics) and teacher coordinator of event presented vote of thanks. Dr. AdityaVeer Singh, Assistant Director of Training and Placement Cell told that Kajal, Bhupesh and Monika got first,second and third position respectively. Arzoo anchored the program . The volunteers Alok, Unnati, Pranjali, Raghav, Manisha,Rakhi, Inderjeet, Anjali alongwith Apurva, the club coordinator, organised and managed the event very nicely.
