Thirteenth Edition of Azadi Amritmahotsav conducted

dedicated to Khudiram Bose

          The Speakathon club under the mentorship of Training and Placement Cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar organised the thirteenth edition of ‘Azadi Amritmahotsav Series’ in form of “Online Elocution Event” to commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence. This week’s freedom fighter was 'Khudiram Bose’ as his death anniversary falls on this week. Many students of GJUST as well as other affiliated colleges participated in this event. Dr. Vivek Gupta from Physics Department was guest of honour. Partap Singh, Director Placement presided over the function. Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Programme Coordinator presented welcome speech and also encouraged the participants to give their best.

          Students spoke very enthusiastically and confidently about the life, struggles and sacrifices of  ‘Khudiram  Bose’. They told that he was the youngest revolutionary freedom fighter who was executed on August 11, 1908 for his role in the Muzaffarpur conspiracy case at the small age of 18 years. Khudiram Bose, along with another freedom fighter Prafulla Chaaki, tried to assassinate a British judge, Douglas Kingsford, but unfortunately the judge escaped and Khudiram bose was arrested and later executed for this. The students said that Khudiram Bose became a volunteer when he was just 15. He was arrested for distributing booklets and other literature, to local people, against the British colonial rulers. After the historical trial of the assassination attempt, when Khudiram Bose was hanged, reports in newspapers of those times said, he went to the gallows with a smile and the Bhagavad Gita in his hand. The students underlined that after the death of Khudiram bose, youth of Bengal started wearing Dhoti with the name of Khudiram Bose written in one corner as tribute. 
          Mr. Pratap Singh Malik, Director Placement appreciated the students for their good and  satisfactory performance. He also mentioned and some untold facts related to Khudiram Bose. At the end, guest of honour Dr. Vivek Gupta congratulated the students for participating in this Azadi Amrit mahotsav series. He further said that we should be proud of our freedom fighters, who gave us British free India and we should learn and follow their path, so that in future no one could even dare to take over our country like Britishers.

          Dr. Aditya Vir Singh, Assistant Director told that Priya Sharma and Sarita have been declared as best two speakers of the event. Vinay from M.Sc. Mass Communication has been declared as the audience quiz winner. Miss Unnati Kshetriya, the Co-coordinator of Speakathon Club, expressed vote of thanks. Monika anchored the programme.
