Speakathon Club's Presents GD Series "Is Social Media Polarising the Society"

Weekly GD Series Programme initiated by Speakathon Club of GJUST

          The Speakathon Club in mentorship of Training and Placement Cell of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar launched a new programme namely "Weekly Group Discussion Series". Under this programme, small groups of 8-10 students will be formed in each class by Speakathon Club Volunteers and every week, on Thursday, Online Group Discussion will be conducted in those groups on topic given by the Club.  Prof. Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Avnesh Verma, Registrar congratulated the Club for initiating this special programme for grooming of University students.

          Director (Placement) Partap Singh Malik said that this programme would boost the confidence of participants in presenting their views on various trending topics as well as motivate the students to be updated about local, national or global happenings. He said that in most of the recruitment processes, companies use Group Discussion as an important tool of shortlisting the students for final interview. So this programme will help the students aspiring to appear for various recruitment processes.

          Club Coordinator Apurva Mann of Physics Department and Shubham Dwivedi from HSB told that the first episode of this Weekly GD series was held on topic "Is Social Media Polarizing the Society". This GD was conducted in 33 student groups in which 247 students have participated with the cooperation of Department and Class Coordinators of the Speakathon Club. Students spoke on pros and cons of social media and highlighted that all social media tools should be used with utmost responsibility of keeping the environment of society harmonious and healthy. Along with exercising the right of expression, the duty of not hurting the feelings of any section of society should always be kept in mind.

          Assistant Director Dr. Aditya Vir Singh and Club Mentor and Assistant Professor in Physics Department Dr. Ranjeet told that Prakash Kumar Jha of B.Tech. ECE 3rd Year and Ashish Saroya of B.Tech. CSE 4th Year have been declared as Best GD coordinators.  The topic for the GD of next week would be "Digital Education vs Traditional Education".
