Speakathon Club's workshop on topic "AAZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV SERIESPart - 17
The Speakathon Club under the mentorship of Training and Placement Cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar organised the 17th episode of ‘Azadi Amritmahotsav Series’ in form of “Online Elocution Competition" to commemorate the 75th Year of India's independence. Prof. Yash Paul Singla , Controller of examination GJU was the chief guest of the function. Dr. Pankaj Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Department of Printing Technology and Dr Abhimanyu Nain, Assistant professor , ECE Department were the judges of the elocution contest. Total 40 students from various colleges and universities were present in the online event. The contestants paid homage and spoke on freedom fighters having their birth or martyrdom anniversary in November month.
In his Welcome address, Pratap Singh Malik, Director Placement congratulated the students for participating in this series. He stated that Azadi Amritmahotsav series has been initiated to inculcate the power of expression in students and to provide a platform to students to know about unsung heroes of freedom struggle. He also appealed to students to read about these freedom fighters and understand that in how much difficult conditions, these warriors fought for freedom of country. While addressing the students as Chief Guest, Prof. Yash Paul Singla cited that Azadi Amritmahotsav is a campaign initiated by the government of India to celebrate 75 years of independent India. He further stated that such types of activities would not only make youth acquainted with unsung heroes of the Indian freedom struggle but also surely motivate our youth to have a vision of India in 2047 and work hard for that.
While paying tribute, the students spoke on Babu Kunwar Singh who fought against Britishers as a leader of Indian Rebellion of 1857 in spite of his age of 80. The students highlighted the life of Bharat Ratna and Freedom Fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malwiya who ignited the flare of freedom struggle through newspaper "The Leader" and also founded institution like Banaras Hindu University. They underlined that slogan of "Satyamev Jayte" was popularized by Madan Mohan Malwiya. The students also spoke on the life of First prime minister of independent India & freedom fighter & first prime minister of Independent India. While speaking on the life of Lala Lajpat Rai, who was one of the Trio of Bal-Pal-Lal, participants recalled his protest against Simon Commision in 1928 and his connection with Hisar as well. The contesetants also thre light of life of Abdul Kalam Azad who Worked for Indian nationalism and worked for the Hindu-Muslim unity in India and also served as First Minister of Education in the Indian Government. Many students chose to speak on Bhagta Singh's idol Kartar singh Sarabha who became a member of Ghadar Party at age of 15 only and then became a leading luminary member and started fighting for the Indian independence movement. The students shared their views on Sachindra Nath Bakshi who was a prominent Indian revolutionary and one of the founding members of Hindustan Republican Association. Many students underlined the life of unsung hero & "Father Of Indian Armed Rebellion' Vasudev Balwant Phadke who formed Rmausi Sena and freed Pune from British Rule for some days. The participants also remembered Jyotirao Govindrao Phule who was an Indian writer, social activist, thinker and anti-caste social reformer from Maharashtra. He is known to work towards the eradication of untouchability and the caste system and for his efforts in educating women. The students also spoke on courageous life of Batukeshwar Dutt who exploded bombs along with Bhagat Singh, in the Central Legislative Assembly in New Delhi on April 8, 1929
Judge Dr. Pankaj Tiwari appreciated participants for their efforts. He advised students to work upon their body language, content quality and time-management for better performance. Judge Dr. Abhimanyu Nain told students that participation is more important than winning. He further suggested that content should be crisp, upto point and timely delivered. Dr. Ranjeet Dalal, Activity mentor Mentor presented the vote of thanks.
Aditya Vir Singh, Assistant Director of Training and Placement Cell informed that Lavisha Bageja, Navdeep and Monika got first, second and third position respectively in Junior Category. In senior category, Sambit & Sindu got first & second prizes and third prize was collectively won by Pooja Narwal and Monika Sihag.
Activity Coordinators Pratibha & Raghav along with Club Coordinators Apoorva & Shubham and other team members coordinated the event effectively. Rakhi Berwal & Sobha Mehra anchored the event.
