Speakathon Club's workshop on topic "AAZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV SERIESPart - 22
The Speakathon Club under the mentorship of Training and Placement Cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar organized the 22nd episode of ‘Azadi Amritmahotsav Series’ in form of “Offline Elocution Competition" to commemorate the 75th Year of India's independence. NSS National Award Winner for the year 2019 -20 and State NSS officer Dr. Bhagat Singh, Scientist in the Department of Agronomy, Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar, was the chief guest of the event. Director(Placement) Pratap Singh presided over the function. Dr. Jyoti, Assistant Professor from Chemistry Department, and Dr. Vinita, Assistant Professor from ECE Department were the judges of the elocution contest. Approx 40 students attended the offline event.
In his welcome address, Director (Placement) & Azadi Amrit Mahotsav Nodal Officer of University, Sh. Pratap Singh Malik, greeted all the guests and participants of the Elocution Contest of AAS. He further stated that the best way to commemorate the Amrit Mahotsav is to remember all those known-unknown freedom fighters, who laid their lives for the freedom of our country. He congratulated the Speakathon Club members for continuously organizing these events, in which more than 500 students have participated till date on more than 100 freedom fighters. He also shared that a new event Video Speech Competition has also been started from April 2022 month, in which 14 students have participated. While addressing the students as Chief Guest, Dr. Bhagat Singh congratulated Training & Placement Cell for doing such wonderful events. He assured to replicate these types of events in other colleges and universities. He appealed to all students to ensure their personal contribution in nation building on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Independence. He also motivated the students to go for Entrepreneurship to ensure the motto of “Atmanirbhar Bharat".
While participating in the elocution contest, participants spoke on the lives of those freedom fighters who were born or died in April month. The students highlighted the life of renowned nationalist and revolutionary Dr. K. B. Hedgewar, who dedicated his entire life for freedom of country and organization of society. The students highlighted the life of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar who was an Indian jurist, nationalist, economist, social reformer, and Constitution man of India and dedicated his entire life for eradication of untouchability and rights of deprived section of society. Some students spoke on Begum Hazrat Mahal , also known as the Begum of Awadh, who played a remarkable role in the first Independence war of 1857 against British rule. The students also underlined the sacrifices of Jodha Singh Ataya of Uttar Pradesh, who was hanged to death along with 51 other freedom fighters on a tree, today known as Baavni Imali. Some students spoke about Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, also known as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule who did numerous works for eradication of untouchability and the caste system and educating women and oppressed caste people. He and his wife, Savitribai Phule, were pioneers of women's education in India. The students also paid tribute tp Tatya Tope who was a general in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and one of its notable leaders. Despite lacking formal military training, Tatya Tope is widely considered the best and most effective rebel general. The Students also spoke about the life of 80 years young revolutilnast Babu Veer Kunwar Singh of Bihar.
Judges Dr. Jyoti & Vinita congratulated all participants for their wonderful speeches and further advised them for improvement. Dr. Aditya Vir Singh, Assistant Director T&P Cell declared the results at the end of the program and presented a vote of thanks as well. He shared that, in the elocution competition, Pooja Narwal got first, Preeti got second and Tushar got the third position and in the special category, Shikshak was the winner. For the video speech competition, Arzoo Dhaka got the first position, Raman Panwar got the second position, Swati Rani and Deepak got the third position. Activity Coordinators Pratibha & Raghav and other team members coordinated the event effectively. Ankit nicely anchored the event.
