 Story telling competition organized by Speakathon club, GJUS&T, Hisar


The Speakathon club under the mentorship of the Training and Placement cell, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, organised a Story Telling Competition in the name of "Kissa". Dean Student Welfare Prof. Manoj Dayal was the chief guest of the event. Composer of University Anthem and professor in HSB Prof. Tilak Sethi, Dr. Renu Muwal from Mathematics Department and Nimisha Suryanshi were members of the jury panel. Director (Placement) Partap Singh presided over the function. Vice Chancellor Prof. Baldev Raj Kamboj congratulated Speakathon Club for its continuous efforts for betterment of communication skills of the students. Registrar Prof. Avnesh Verma appealed to all students to avail this opportunity given by Speakathon Club. 50 students including 25 participants attended the event.

Addressing the students, Chief Guest Prof Manoj Dayal underlined the importance of communication skill in our personal as well as professional life. He also stated that story telling not only improves the communication skill, but connects us with the ethical values. He also explained various aspects and methods of story telling. The participants narrated a number of stories on five given morals - "A friend in need is a friend indeed"; "Greed is curse"; "What goes round, comes round"; "Disability need not be an obstacle to success"; & "Be part of problem not solution". One student recited stories of motivating personalities like Karoly takacs who fought against all the odds over a decade and didn't let loose hope and made a record in the Olympics by winning two medals in the same sport. The story of Stephen Hawking was also narrated who made his name after being physically handicapped. All the judges also briefed and motivated the students for their participation.

While declaring the results of competition, Assistant Director Dr. Aditya Vir mentioned that Tushar from B.Sc.(Economics) 3rd year got 1st position,  Bhawna  Mittal from MBA 1st year got 2nd position while Priya from B.Sc.(Mathematics) 1st year bagged 3rd position. Preeti from B.Sc.(Chemistry) 2 nd year was given consolation prize. Club coordinator,Deepak presented a vote of thanks. The event started with Kulgeet and ended with the National Anthem. The whole event was anchored by Riya. Isha headed the event as program coordinator with a team including club coordinator Deepak, Amit, Laxmi, Lalit, Sujal, Nikhil and Priya.
